The visit, in three frames
Leather Conditioning at your driveway, in the order it happens.
1
Step 1: Clean the grain
A soft brush and leather cleaner lift the oils and dye out of the grain, seams and perforations.
2
Step 2: Wipe and dry
The grime comes off on the towel. The leather dries before anything goes back on it.
3
Step 3: Condition and buff
Conditioner goes on thin, sits, and is buffed off so the seats feel soft and matte, never greasy.
What leather goes through in Norwalk
Heat and sun dry it out. Body oils, denim dye and sunscreen build up on the driver's seat bolster first. Once leather dries it stiffens, then it cracks, and cracked leather does not come back. Cars parked outside all day near the Norwalk Metrolink station or along the lots by Norwalk City Hall show it first.
How we condition leather
A leather cleaner and a soft brush lift the dirt out of the grain, including the seams and perforations. We wipe it clean, let it dry, then apply a conditioner and buff off the excess so the seats are soft, not greasy. The steering wheel and leather door panels get the same.
Leather, vinyl or both
Many seats are leather on the face and vinyl on the sides. We treat each surface with the right product. If you are not sure what you have, send a photo with (562) 341-8939 and we will tell you.
Is leather conditioning what your car needs?
Book this when
- Leather seats feel dry, stiff or look dull
- The driver bolster has gone dark from jeans and body oils
- A new car you want to keep soft through the summers
Pick something else when
- Cloth seats: those take extraction
- The leather is already cracked or torn: conditioning will not repair it, and we say so first
- The whole interior needs work: the Interior Detail with conditioning added
After we leave: how to keep it that way
- 1
Keep it out of the sun when you can
A sunshade in the windshield does more for leather than any product.
- 2
Wipe, do not scrub
A damp microfiber wipe every few weeks keeps the grain clean between conditionings.
- 3
Repeat two to four times a year
Dark leather parked outside needs the upper end of that. Light leather in a garage, the lower.

Leather Conditioning questions from Norwalk drivers
How often should leather car seats be conditioned in Norwalk?
Two to four times a year for a car that lives in the Norwalk sun. Dark leather in a car parked outside should get it more often than light leather in a garage.
Will conditioning fix cracked leather?
No. Conditioning keeps good leather from cracking; it does not repair cracks. We say so before we start if the seats are past that point.
Is it slippery afterward?
No. We buff off the excess conditioner so the seats feel soft and matte, not shiny.
Leather starting to feel dry?
